When the woman discovers that she has been lied to by the priest she loves, she becomes completely enraged and chases after him. In the process, her neck becomes longer and longer, her face more demonic. When she reaches the Hidaka river, and finds there is no way to cross, she hurls herself into the river, becoming a fire-breathing serpent in the process. Here the woman, swimming across the Hidaka river, is in the final stages of her transformation.
