Zo-Onna: A slightly older woman (in her twenties) as indicated by the thinner face (for a comparison see Ko-omote below). This mask is considered suitable for female roles which call for elegant refinement. Rokujô in Nonomiya or the Heavenly Maiden in Hagoromo (The Feather Mantle) might wear this mask.

The Ko-Omote mask represents very young, fresh beauty. It is most often worn by tsure characters; in Aoi no Ue it is worn by Teruhi, the shamaness.
