The wife in Kanaoka is ready to
have her face painted by her husband. She is sitting on the round lacquered
cask (shoogi) used in both noh and kyoogen. The husband wears
a brightly designed gown over patterned hakama, and the wife has on a typical
kyoogen woman's kimono and white headdress (binan).
