Act 4 Scene 2 "The Village School" from Sugawara's Secrets of Calligraphy

Matsuomaru and his wife Chiyo remove their outer robes to reveal white robes of mourning for their son Kotaro, as they prepare to accompany his body to the burial site:

As Matsuo and Chiyo
Remove their outer garments,
There emerges the painful proof
Of their earlier resolution:
Beneath the outer dress
Are funeral weeds
For those who mourn the dead.
