"The most characteristic type of michiyuki in a sewamono (domestic drama) piece is that in which two lovers are on their way to commit double suicide or trying to escape from the authorities. One of the most famous examples is the michiyuki performed by Umegawa and Chubei in the play Keibibyaku Yamato Orai. The lovers wear matching kimono for the occassion. The man has a shawl draped over his head and tied under his chin, and the woman wears a similar shawl draped loosely around her head. They move along the hanamichi bridgeway, hastening to reach the village where Chubei's father lives." (Umegawa: Nakuramura Utaemon; Chubei: Nakamura Senjaku)
