Design Your Life (St. Martin’s Press, 2009) is about objects and how we interact with them. Illustrated with paintings of things both ordinary and odd, this book casts a sharp eye on parenthood, housekeeping, entertaining, time management, crafting, and more. Find out how people everywhere are using the tools of design to enact their own visions of what’s cool, hip, beautiful, or just. Speaking to readers who are both design-conscious and consumer-wary, Design Your Life taps into the popular interest in design as well as people’s desire to make their own way through a mass-produced world.
Ellen Lupton is an AIGA Gold Medal winner and the author of many books on graphic design.
Julia Lupton is a professor of English at UCI who writes about design and plays with fonts whenever her day job permits. Ellen and Julia are the co-authors of DIY Kids and Design Your Life and collaborators on DIY: Design It Yourself.
Event includes a lecture, design project, and book signing, plus cookies and conversation with the authors.
